Hoppekids Sustainable Entrepreneurship Award

To protect the environment is to protect the children and their future.
"We love what we do, and the way we do it. If other companies share this feeling and thereby support the important task of protecting our environment and seek to develop more sustainable solutions, we are happy to be able to help with this award."
René Stenvang, Owner of Hoppekids

It's all about the environment

At Hoppekids, we ultimately do things to create a better world for all children. We do so by producing quality furniture that lives up to strict standards about environment, health, and safety. For that reason, we’ve been certified with the Nordic Swan Ecolabel – a certification we are very proud of. Hoppekids is the first and only producer of modular bed systems for children who has achieved this.

The thing is, with the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, we commit to producing long-lasting products while also looking out for the environment. We are certain that you agree: Taking care of the environment is taking care of our kids and their future.

Sustainability is no longer simply a hygiene factor used to avoid dissatisfaction – it’s a motivational factor truly creating satisfaction. This is clear to see among companies who, right from the beginning, make an effort to include sustainability on a strategic level. The potential among entrepreneurs and start-ups is enormous and that is exactly what this award seeks to celebrate.

"With heart and soul is Hoppekids' slogan. We love what we do, and the way we do it. If other companies share this feeling and thereby support the important task of protecting our environment and seek to develop more sustainable solutions, we are happy to be able to help with this award”
René Stenvang
, owner of Hoppekids

Hoppekids Sustainable Entrepreneurship Award was established by René Stenvang in connection with the celebration of the 100-year anniversary of Latvia's independence in 2018, where the Crown Prince of Denmark also participated.

Protecting the environment is protecting our kids and their future.

Looking out for the environment is in the core of Hoppekids' philosophy. Implementing this in our production line was only the beginning.

Hoppekids wish to celebrate those start-ups and entrepreneurs who work strategically and innovative towards a more sustainable business model. They do so each year by presenting the Hoppekids Sustainable Entrepreneurship Award. The purpose of the award is to promote a more sustainable development among start-ups and entrepreneurs. This is done by supporting a specific business or product development that encourages green transition.

2020 ReCollector

2021 was different

In 2021, the Hoppekids Sustainable Entrepreneurship Award did not take place. We chose to support a local soccer turnament, Sommerbold på Heden, for children and adults with special needs. They haven't been able to do the turnament for the last 2 years due to the Covid epidemic and other cirumstances. This year, Hoppekids also contributed with a trip to the amusement park, Djurs Sommerland, for the players and their families, which they used on the occasion of the organisation's 10-year anniversary. A trip that brought great joy for all the members.

The jury has selected four finalists for this year's award. The finalists will be pitching their product or service on March 22nd at the Danish Kids conference within lifestyle. Hereafter, the audience will ultimately select this year's winner of the award.

Sheworks

The finalist is chosen for their exceptional work with both environmental and social sustainability. The finalist transforms discarded textiles from the Danish design industry into design products, thereby saving CO2, chemicals, and water as well as reducing the amount of textiles ending in incineration. The handmade designs are made locally in Denmark creating jobs for women outside the labor market.

Design Rocket

The finalist is chosen for their clever and playful design that goes hand-in-hand with a fundamental consideration for the environment, reflected throughout the entire value chain. The jury emphasizes the well-thought-out design where aesthetic and practical features are combined with playful elements inspiring children to play more.

CrayAte

The finalist is chosen for their ability to combine learning with play through their circular bio-solution. With their crayons made of color pigments from food waste, the finalist seeks to build bridges between the child’s knowledge about food waste and the creative use of crayons. The jury emphasizes the innovative concept originating from the massive waste of food in the pre-prepping industry.

Bakano

The finalist is chosen for their ability to create long-lasting design that can also hold a unique personal retelling. With a business model relying on upcycling of leather goods, the finalist offers new life to old leather products or leftovers from leather production. In that way, old couches and discarded leftovers resurrect as high-quality design products.

And the winner is... !
