The benefits of a high sleeper bed

- About the high beds from Hoppekids

High sleeper beds for children

When children see a half or midhigh bed, they do not just see a piece of furniture. Instead, they see a hideout, a space ship, a fairytale world or a playground. They get a great feeling of independence by having to climb to bed and can use the bed – or the space beneath it – as a personal space when they need a break.

The half and midhigh beds are great for small bedrooms where extra space is often needed and can more easily be found in the topmost part of the room. A bed raised off the floor gives more floor space and the space beneath the bed can be fitted with one of our many universe curtains which transform it into a fantastical hideout. Here, your child can relax or be read to in magical surroundings.

What bed should I choose?

If you are thinking about getting a high bed for your children's room, by now, you've probably figured out that there are different kinds of high beds for kids. At Hoppekids, there are 3 kinds of high beds - Halhhigh beds, midhigh beds, and highbeds. Click on the images to see all beds in the chosen category.

The halfhigh bed

The halfhigh bed is the lowest of the three high beds. The ladder has 2 steps, which is why this bed is great for younger children, who would like a bed with height. The bed is lifted, but not too much for younger kids. The height under the bed is 69-72cm - depending on whether it is a BASIC or PREMIUM bed. The halfhigh bed is available in the sizes 70x160, 70x190, 90x200, and 120x2200.

If you are looking for a high bed with a slide, is is also the halfhigh bed you should choose. You can easily add (and remove) a slide to the halfhigh bed, turning the children's room into a playground. See all our highbeds with slide here.

For the halfhihg bed, there are a lot of different curtains that can help personalize the bed and create a style that matches your child and their interests. See all curtains for halfhihg beds here. Curtains are ideal for creating a highbed with a cave.

The midhigh bed

The midhigh bed is - as the name might imply - the bed that height-wise is between the halfhigh and the highbed. The ladder for the bed has 3 steps and it is therefore great for kids, who are comfortable with a high bed. The height under the bed is 108cm - both in the BASIC and PREMIUM version of the midhigh bed. The midhigh bed is available in the sizes 70x160, 90x200, and 120x200.

The extra height actually makes a big difference. Especially for older children, the few extra centimeters might be the difference between whether the space beneath the bed is a hideout or an extra room in the room. By using the midhigh module, you get space for furniture like a desk or a children’s set of chairs and a table. This gives you better options for furnishing and for using your imagination beneath the bed.

For the midhigh bed, you can also find different curtains that can help personalize the bed and style it after your kid's interests. See all curtains for midhigh beds here. Curtains are ideal for creating cozy caves under the bed.

The highbed

The highbed is the highest of the three high beds. The ladder for the bed has 4 steps and it is therefore great fore the bigger child, who can easily climb the 4 steps into bed. The height under the bed is 135-143 cm - depending on whether it is a PREMIUM or BASIC bed. All highbeds are available in the size 90x200 cm.

If you are looking for a highbed with sofa underneath, it is also a highbed you should look at. The height of the bed makes it ideal for placing a sofa or extra sleeping place underneath. If your child has sleepovers, the lounge module can simply be pulled out and used as a bed. Hereafter, it can just be changed back and used as a cozy lounge area.

As the picture from @mammarose shows, it can be the perfect area for gamin or just hanging out. On Instagram, we share pictures from children's rooms around the world - feel free to hop over and find inspiration on our profile.

Does the height of the bed concern you?

Some parents wonder whether the height might cause problems for their child and for the practical activities in everyday life. They have concerns whether their child might fall out of the bed or if it might get difficult to change the bedding.

Many parents – especially the ones who are ”vertically challenged” – solve the problem by having a small step ladder or stool for practical purposes.  But is your child really safe in that tall bed? The guard rails of Hoppekids beds are very durable because they are attached firmly to the beds. This means that the rail will guard even an unruly sleeper and it supports your child when he or she climbs in and out of the bed.

A high bed gives you the best of both worlds because the height allows for playtime or a hideout under the bed but the bed is still low enough for you, the parents, to reach into.

The child grows… and the bed does too!

Do you think the bed might be too tall for your child at the moment? A halfhigh bed can be raised by adding a mid- or highbed module. Opposite, you can also make the bed shorter or turn it into a junior bed. if your child gets tired of a high bed.

The high beds from Hoppekids come in divisible versions, which means you can change the height of the bed to correspond to your child’s – and your – changing needs. If your child gets bored with the half or midhigh bed, you can just remove the module again.

High sleeper bed with a desk

A children's room must be a lot of things, why flexible solutions are a must-have! One of such solutions is a highbed with a desk. At Hoppekids, we have different kinds.

One solution is our Jonas desk on wheels that fits perfectly under our BASIC halfhigh bed. The desk can - totally or partially - be placed under the bed, when the room is needed for play. When the desk is needed, it can simply be rolled out from the bed.

Highbed with a desk and sofa

Another solution is our highbed with a desk mounted on the bed itself. With this solution, the desk won't take up more floor space, as it is placed under the bed. In that way, a cozy workspace is created, which is perfect for homework or creative projects.

Our Mega-bed also provides the possibility for adding both a desk and a sofa. This highbed for kids uses the space under the bed completely and makes room for both a practical workspace and a cozy lounge area, which can be used as a sofa or as an extra sleeping place.

As the picture from @twinstyleblog shows, it is the perfect set-up to release one's creativity.
